Since I’ve encountered this situation lately, I figured that I should remind you all.
If someone is texting you incessantly and you just ignore them, it will NOT work. Eventually, you’ll lose your phone, and their number won’t be saved so you can’t tell it’s them when they call.
If this happens, and the incessant messages start up again, you have options besides changing your number. First of all, tell them to stop. Tell them they’re making you uncomfortable, that you don’t want to talk to them, and that from hereon out, any future contact will be capped and saved as evidence of harassment. Make sure you save the text/email/im in which you tell them to stop as well - that way you have evidence that you told them to stop.
This way, if they keep texting you, you have evidence on hand if you have to go to the cops. However, in less severe circumstances, just telling them that you’re saving those messages as evidence is more than enough to deter people.
You are not a bitch or a terrible person for taking precautions to protect yourself. You do not need to feel guilty for confronting someone that’s causing you distress. Your safety is worth it.
If you give someone your number, and they choose to abuse it… Well, that’s on them, not you. It’s not going to stop until you put your foot down, though.

I just love this quote. It’s so easily overlooked, seen as unimportant, until you see the prequels. Because then you realize how utterly true and heartbreaking that phrase is. “He died about the same time your father did.” Meaning that Obi-Wan, that is, everything that made him who he was, his faith, his joy, his light, was murdered, killed, at the same time that Anakin was lost to the Dark Side. When Anakin became Vader, Obi-Wan became Ben. Anakin and Obi-Wan died together on that planet. Only Vader and Ben left it alive. One full of hate and darkness, the other a broken shell that was merely existing, not even really living. These two men were so deeply entwined, so bonded together in the force, that when one died, so did the other. That is the real definition of true love.
